What are the Gay Games?

The Gay Games is the world’s premier LGBTQIA+ sports and culture festival, held every four years since 1982. More than just athletic competition, it’s a global celebration of diversity, inclusion, and equality through sport and culture.

Perth 2030 will mark the 13th edition of this historic event, bringing together participants of all abilities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, nationalities, and ethnic origins. The Games are open to everyone who shares our values of participation, inclusion, and personal best.

Unlike traditional sporting events that focus solely on elite performance, the Gay Games embrace the principle of “Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best” – meaning athletes compete to achieve their own personal goals while celebrating community and diversity.

Perth 2030 will welcome thousands of athletes, artists, and spectators from over 70 countries, creating an unforgettable week of competition, cultural exchange, and celebration in Western Australia.
